Privacy Policy — Tempo
Last updated: 18 September 2026
Tempo shows the time and the weather forecast. It does that, and collects as little as possible to do it.
Data controller: MindContact — privacy@mindcontact.net
In short
- Tempo does not create accounts, does not ask you to sign up, and does not collect your name, email or contacts.
- Device location is optional: it is used only if you pick "this device" as a place, and places can be searched by name without ever granting it.
- The places you save and the last forecast received stay on the phone. We have no server to keep them on.
- Two things leave the device: the coordinates of the place you want the forecast for, sent to Open-Meteo, and whatever Google AdMob collects to show ads.
Permissions, and what they are for
| Permission | Why | What leaves the device |
|---|---|---|
| Internet | ask Open-Meteo for the forecast and show ads | see the two sections below |
| Network state | know whether there is a connection before asking, and show the last reading instead of an error | nothing |
| Approximate location | optional: only if you pick "this device" as a place | the coordinates, rounded, go to Open-Meteo with the forecast request |
Location is approximate by choice: a weather forecast does not tell one street from another, and asking for precise location would be asking for more than is used.
Weather forecasts
Forecasts come from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a public service that needs no key and no account.
- Each refresh sends the coordinates of the place you want the forecast for — the one you searched by name, or the device's approximate position if you chose it — along with the IP address, which is unavoidable in any network request.
- No identifier of yours or of the phone is sent: the request carries nothing that ties those coordinates to a person.
- When you search a town by name, the text you type is sent to the same provider's geocoding service to turn it into coordinates.
- Open-Meteo's terms: open-meteo.com/en/terms
The answer is kept on the phone so it can be shown without a connection, and is replaced by the next one.
Advertising
Tempo shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process:
- the device advertising identifier (Advertising ID);
- the IP address and technical information about the device;
- ad interaction data.
Google processes this data as an independent controller. Policy and options: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
You can limit personalised ads from the system settings: Settings › Privacy › Ads.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, consent is requested through Google's message (Consent Management Platform) before any personalised ad is shown. You can refuse and keep using the app: you will see non-personalised ads. Where the law requires it, the "Ad privacy options" entry in the app menu reopens that choice at any time.
Data collected by us
None. Tempo has no backend, sends no telemetry and uses no analytics. The only things stored are your preferences — widget typeface and colour, clock format, units, which app a tap opens — the places you added and the last forecast received. They stay on the phone and are never transmitted.
Children
Tempo is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
Since we process no personal data, we have nothing to export or delete. For the data collected by Google AdMob, rights are exercised towards Google under its policy. Uninstalling the app stops all collection and removes the places and preferences stored on the phone.
Changes
Any change to this policy will be published at this address, with the update date at the top.
